RAGNAR Del sol 2010

A RAGNAR is a 12-man relay team that runs 204 miles. We started at 7 am in Prescott, AZ then ran all day, all night and most of the next day til we reached Tempe, AZ. It was crazy fun. One of the most fun things I have ever done. As sore as I was from all that running, the most sore thing on my body was my abs, because when we were not running, we were laughing! There are 2 vans, with 6 runners in each. Each van takes a turn doing 6 various distances (legs), then we pass the wrist band off to the next van and they do their legs, while we try and find some shut eye. That really never happened for me, though, so I was wicked tired by the time this was over. We repeat that process 3 times, so we all end up doing three legs each.

This was my van team. We seriously laughed non-stop. What a fun group of people. This was after our 2nd leg sometime in the middle of the night. Right before this leg, I took some 5-hour energy drink and boy did that do a number on me. It was so funny. I was totally doped on caffeine and crazy as a loon! I was jumping out of my skin and practically sprinted that 5-mile leg. I will NEVER do that again! After this, we actually woke up around 4am to start our final leg and found out during the night a runner from another team had been hit by a car, so the race had been halted and we had to all start up again on our last leg in a couple hours. It was madness, but we decided to go ahead and finish the race. (He is in stable condition btw)
Go team "What Where We Thinkin?"

This is where I lived in between runs....
This is my friend (and running partner) Darci, who suckered me into this whole thing. Thanks Darci!
This is the whole team with our famous pot roast! Brian's wife showed up at 3:30am as we were leaving for Prescott with a fully cooked pot roast. It was so funny. What a woman! We enjoyed it later that afternoon in a park somewhere in the middle of nowhere, AZ!

At the finish line with our medals. What a great time we had! I am so thankful to a wonderful husband who allows me to do things like this, and stayed at home watching the kids. Then, he stayed up late listening to my crazy stories, while I laughed some more. Love you babe!

Pics from my 1/2 marathon

I'm looking for Aaron and Kalvin - knowing they would be somewhere around mile 12.3 ('cause of course I worked that out in advance - ocd much?)  This is Giselle (a sorta sis-in-law - she is married to my sister's husband's twin) running the race with me.  We were searching for our fams.....

YAY - I found them.  It really was a struggle for me from mile 11 til this moment.  I was really feeling it, but this gave me just what I needed to keep up my pace, so I could finish strong.  It was a wonderful feeling.  I even came in just under my goal (barely).  Official stats: 13.1 miles in 2:09:25.  I had a blast and even though I am REALLY sore, I can't wait til the next one.  I'm hooked!

Summertime Catch-up

My cute girl, Sage, turned 10 on July 2nd.  Brownie Sundays...yummm

She had a Disco Diva Dance Party!  We turned our basement into a disco dance club - strobe light and disco ball and all!  It was sooo very much fun and the girls had a blast.
Sage and Robyn
Dancing Queen!

After they were all tuckered out of dancing - they went for a late-night swim.  What a blast!
Aaron and I had our 13 year anniversary on July 6th.  I also chopped off all that hair and went platinum.  Fun day.
This was one of the highlights of the summer for Kalvin and I.  Keith Urban is by far my favorite artist and Kalvin's guitar Hero!  So, Aaron and I took Kalvin to his first concert and it was awesome!!!  Did I say AWESOME - I meant FLIPPIN AWESOME!  Kal was trying so hard to act cool like his Dad, but every now and then he would forget he was being cool and I would catch him letting out a scream or just laughing out loud and even cutting a rug once in awhile like his Mom.  I won the scream contest, but he had the time of his life!
Boys will be boys - Chipped his front PERMANENT tooth.  I suppose this is par for the course, eh?
Poor Sage - she had a tooth that abscessed overnight and woke up like this!  She had to have an emergency extraction on a Saturday and it was not fun to say the least.  I even shed a tear watching her go through it.  Rough day, but she no longer looks like a chipmunk.  Thanks to our awesome friend Chris, who went into work on a Saturday to take care of her!
Just had to throw this one in because this is how she feels about swimming....
and Ice Cream! (or as she calls it, Quick Cream)

The only other thing I am missing is the horrible scare we had with Kobe (the picture is not on my computer yet).  We found out the scary and hard way that he has a nut allergy.  Right now we are only sure it is cashews, but next week we will have the nut allergy testing done to find out which other ones for sure.  Now we carry around epi-pens and ask if it has a nut before eating ANYTHING.  It was scary, but we are thankful he is OK now.  Exciting times for sure.

Sad news...

Late last night Bond got really sick and had to be put down. He could no longer walk and was dragging his back legs. It was difficult to hear the vet tell me that he had probable spine, internal organ and brain damage. Due to his age, further tests were not in the cards for him. He was 16 years old (112 dog years!).

While we are truly sad, I am grateful that I had a constant companion that saw me go from a 13 year old girl to a mother and wife. When I was sick he was by my side. He was my little man and I miss him greatly already. He didn't like the ones I love the most at first, but he finally warmed up to Edgar and April. He'd have a few minutes of energy a day for these past few months and would spend them chasing them around the house. April is sad, but happy that he is now chasing other people in doggie heaven. He was our best friend and know that he loved us. We could always count on a slobber attack if anyone of us was lying on the floor. I’m almost out of tears. He will be missed.

Since this just happened, I really can’t talk about it without crying. Emails are welcomed.

Love,
Jaclyn

Self Portrait...One hot Nana

Dante and Bella love their Nani and Papi

The kids were so happy to be surprised by Nani's
and Papi's visit early Sunday morning.  Papi had regular
light saber and sword fights with Dante and sometimes
Bella joined in...and sometimes, Papi was fighting
for his life.  Thanks for coming to see us.  We sure
do love you.  We'll see you soon.--am

Our little birthday party...

We had a combined party for Dante and Bella.
It was a pancake party and we had a blast.
They are growing up way too fast.
Love,

Happy 2nd Birthday Daisy

By some miracle - I was able to get her to say "cheese".  Enjoy because she is rarely smiling in pics.  Not the poser, I am afraid :(   This is Daisy showing off her Curious George cake.  It was nearly impossible to sit there and not touch!  Soon enough Daisy!

In the bounce house of fun
TWO CANDLES! What!?  How does that happen.  It feels like she was born yesterday....Wait - I need her to be a baby for just a little longer..... pleaseee...
The singing was "interesting".  She couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about.  It was funny.

Present Time

OH SNAP!  Her Nana Thurman sent her this ridiculously outrageous, and totally awesome Tutu.  She got a leotard (so she doesn't have to "borrow" Sage's anymore) from her Mom and Dad.  She HAD to put them on right away and WOW - was it adorable.
She could not get enough of it.  Her whole attitude changed once it was on.  She is always a little princess, but this Tutu took it to a whole other level!
It was so funny - she was so happy about this fluffy pink thing, she tried as hard as she could to gather it all up in her arms, and when they were full, she started hugging it and just giggling.  It was so precious.
Time to hit her best friend, George!  Demented a little I admit, but fun, nonetheless.
Her Nonie and Papa Wettstein were in town and she just had the best little 2 year old birthday ever!  All pink, fluffy, and princess.  Makes my heart go pitter patter!  I LOVE my Daisy girl!
